About

Books surrounded me during my childhood. Words and knowledge and the possibilities that come within a book were in the air in my home. My mother was a librarian, and my father was a teacher. We had shelves and boxes filled with books in our home. Many of those books I have inherited and still have today. They are treasures.

I fondly remember my mother taking me to work with her in the library. We would go in the early morning before the library was open. It would be dim and quiet and all ours. She would let me pick a stack of picture books, and we would sit in a brown velvety, oversized chair, and she would read to me.

When I was a bit older, we read together The Chronicles of Narnia, The Dark is Rising, and Harry Potter (often with a serving of Burnt Almond Fudge ice cream). My love of reading – and ice cream – have been lifelong.

As a mother, I began to read picture books again with my children. I fell in love with the magic and beauty and fun that can exist within these short stories. That was when I felt the desire to write kidlit books of my own.

I am a graduate of the University of Utah where I earned a B.A. in English Literature. I have been a student in many writing courses including the Write, Support, Submit class offered through The Writing Barn.

In 2012, I completed a 200 RYT (registered yoga teacher) training through the University of Utah.
